Emergency Medicine and Military Service
Following residency, Dr. Gartlan served on active duty in the United States Air Force as an Emergency Medicine physician. His military service gave him additional experience caring for patients in environments that required preparation, attention to detail, and dependable clinical judgment.
Through his work in emergency medicine, Dr. Gartlan developed extensive experience in patient assessment, safety, and medical decision-making. He also saw firsthand the importance of clear communication and trust between physicians and the people they care for.
Board Certification in Aesthetic Medicine
In addition to his emergency medicine background, Dr. Gartlan is board certified in aesthetic medicine by the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine. This training expanded his medical experience into aesthetic care and complements his interest in helping people feel confident in their appearance and overall wellness.
At Ivy Aesthetics & Wellness Center, Dr. Gartlan applies his medical education and clinical experience to services ranging from aesthetic treatments to wellness medicine. His approach emphasizes careful evaluation, patient education, and treatment recommendations based on each individual’s needs and goals.
His Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Gartlan believes that effective care begins with listening. He takes time to understand each patient’s concerns, explain available options, and answer questions before developing a treatment plan.
His goal is to provide evidence-based care in a professional and welcoming setting. Through Ivy Aesthetics & Wellness Center, he offers Williamsburg and James City County patients a physician-led approach focused on safety, balance, and long-term well-being.
